Xbox Game Pass: New games for September 2024

Signed up to Xbox Game Pass? If you haven’t yet, here’s a quick rundown. It’s pretty much the gaming version of Netflix – and if you’ve got an Xbox or a PC, it’s a no brainer. You’ll pay a subscription fee every month, and in return, you can download literally 100s of top games. For the full details, make sure you have a read of our Xbox Game Pass explained piece.

And if you’ve been with Game Pass since day one, you’ll know that the library keeps on getting better and better. New titles get added to the service all the time. With plenty of epic adventures coming every single month for you to get stuck into. So, let’s have a proper look at the upcoming lineup…

New games coming to Xbox Game Pass this September

If you need something new to play, this month’s offering is action packed. Here’s the full list of your new Game Pass games.

Star Trucker (cloud, console, PC)

What? An out of this world trucking game.

Why should you play it? Taking the wheel of a rocket-powered big rig, you’ll haul important cargo across the stars. With every successful drop-off, you’ll earn cash to upgrade your vehicle – letting you tackle larger (and more dangerous) jobs. Maintenance is key though. Patch up your hull, monitor your core systems and keep that gravity compensator online. Otherwise, you’ll never make your delivery. And we don’t think the AA handle space recovery these days!

When? Available September 3rd.

Age of Mythology: Retold (cloud, PC, Xbox Series X/S)

What? A full-blown remaster of the 2002 real time strategy classic.

Why should you play it? Humans, mythical beasts, and gods clash in hectic top-down battles. Pledge your allegiance to Greek, Viking, Atlantean or Egyptian deities and call upon their powers to obliterate your enemies. Lightning storms. Earthquakes. Floods. They’re all here. And they’ll have you saying ‘oh my god’ when you see just how powerful they are…

When? Available September 4th.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game (cloud, console, PC)

What? Off road adventures around the globe.

Why should you play it? In your trusty off roader, discover vast open worlds stuffed with hidden ruins and ancient treasure. The wilds are an unforgiving place though. From the Carpathian mountains to the Arizona desert, you’ll have to manage your camp and crew to keep the mission moving. And if your expedition isn’t going to plan, you can always make things easier by teaming up with 3 of your friends.

When? Available September 5th.

Riders Republic (cloud, console, PC)

What? Taking extreme sports to the max.

Why should you play it? Explore a huge open world playground by bike, skis, snowboard, or wingsuit. With iconic national parks (like Bryce Canyon and Yosemite) as your racetracks, whizzing down hills and skirting deadly drops are all part of the fun. But watch out for the edge! You’ll be joined by more than 50 other players too, competing with them in whacky races for that top spot on the podium. To do that though you’ll have to smash, weave, and grind your way to victory – fighting all the way to the finish line.

When? Available September 11th.

Train Sim World 5 (cloud, console, PC)

What?

Why should you play it? With new trains to drive and routes to master, it’s your job to keep every journey on track. Ride the rails in California and handle the commute to downtown LA. Or take a trip to Frankfurt and transport tons of freight using the beasty DB Vectron.

There’s even a whole new way to play. Don’t fancy driving? In Conductor Mode, you take on the role of the guard. Operate the doors, check tickets, and keep the passengers safe. And if anyone’s not paid for a seat, make sure to turf them out at the next station.

When? Available September 17th.

Wargroove 2 (cloud, console, PC)

What? A turn-based retro strategy title.

Why should you play it? With an overhauled set of commanders, you’ll have completely new ways to wage war. This is where the Groove system comes in. Every commander has one of these special skills that can give you the edge in battle. And if you’re patient, you can supercharge it. Completely turning the tide in your favour. Using it at the right time can be the difference between victory and defeat.

When? Available September 19th.

Frostpunk 2 (PC)

What? A very chilly city management game.

Why should you play it? After an apocalyptic blizzard, Earth is locked in a never-ending winter. To survive – and keep your frozen city warm – you’ll have to make plenty of tough decisions. Not all of them are going to be popular though. And powerful factions might rebel against your authority if things get too tough. Watch your back out there…

When? Available September 20th

Ara: History Untold (PC)

What? A civilisation builder that spans centuries.

Why should you play it? Take command of a nation and lead it through 12 unique historical eras. Through a combination of diplomacy, war, and trade you’ll carve out an empire and prove yourself as the greatest ruler ever. But your choices will define the world around you, so think carefully. Will you be a kind, caring emperor. Or will you rule with an iron fist and crush anyone who stands in your way. That’s entirely up to you.

When? Available September 24th.
